COMPATRIOT

The Yagi family have been neighbor to the Narita's for a very, very long time. Shinogu practically grew up with Asahi, as they're the same age. While he doesn't interact much with Subaru, Shinogu holds a soft-spot for the younger boy and approves of him dating his youngest sister, Akane.

The real relationship here is between Shinogu and Asahi. Not only do they work together, but Asahi has a crush on Shinogu, apparently, one she's held for a very long time, but has refused to confess to him because he seems to unattainable. In this sense, they're both very much alike.

Asahi is also, technically, the first one to hear Shinogu openly admit his love for Hatsumi (Ref: Vol. 5, Ch. 23, Pg. 162) and the shock makes her start to cry uncontrollably. She is sad, both for herself and for him.

Asahi: ...it's okay. I won't tell.
Asahi: I swear I won't tell anybody, ever.
Asahi: I won't tell, Shinogu...

Her loyalty to him is surprisingly strong, despite the fact that she later does tell Hatsumi in a fit of anger/jealousy. What is extremely sad is that Shinogu doesn't recognize her feelings until later on and he does not return them.

Despite this, Asahi does her very best to keep everything very normal between them. When they both start their job at BUZZ CAFÉ, she acts completely natural around him and is something I'm sure Shinogu appreciates.

Asahi is also one of the strongest supports for a Shinogu & Hatsumi relationship. She truly feels that Shinogu is a much better man and much more deserving of Hatsumi's love, rather than Ryoki. Her brother, Subaru, does not know that Shinogu feels this way about Hatsumi, and is therefore a Ryoki supporter, but who's to say what he would feel had he known.
